There are days that go by where I do not hear a melody, and in those moments, I realise my life is monotonous, black and white. Then I turn on the songs that have been with me since childhood, and my world comes alive and I can dance again. I couldn’t live a day without music, I couldn’t imagine a life without harmony.

There are so many sounds and noises that fill our earth daily. In some places, it is too loud for comfort. In others, it is too soft or high, thus escaping the sensitivity of the marvellous human ear. Yet, all these sounds make our planet spin in tune with the other constellations. Everyone is singing their own song, but who’s listening?

In space, there is darkness and timelessness. And most strikingly, silence. If I were to open my plane window and walk the clouds at night, I will be impounded with the infinite and cold silence that surrounds my being. Nothing stirs although we travel at the speed of light, and although science and legends whisper about the mystery of the singing stars, I would hear nothing.

What happened to the music just several thousand miles below? What happened to the noise pollution, static collisions? Does white noise hit the roof as it reaches our universe’s canopy? Is the sky then our limit?

No one from space would know the beauty of song that flows through our earth. It’s in the wind, in the waters, in our veins. We breathe and live it as countless conversations and heartbeats create connections all the time. We are alive because sound gives us a voice. We are beautiful because we sing the song God has written for our lives.

We are no longer silent because God gave us words and taught us how to speak. The Creator gave His human creation that one thing all other creation does not have. For who else sings like we do? Who else has voices like children of the sun?

In the vast expanse of our timeless universe, the silence stretches into infinity. But upon one precious lone star, if one goes close enough, a silent planet sings.
