And I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away. Also there was no more sea…And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying: “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself will be with them and be their God. And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away…” ~ Revelation 21:1-4
O heavy day…when the young and beautiful go up to be with the Lord. Another day, another one. When the good die young, we wrestle with life’s biggest questions and poor answers. The grief pierces, knowing we will never have them with us in this time and space again, forever burdened with wondering why and how a tragedy as such could be possible…My heart breaks when they leave us, whether or not I knew them, for death kills and steals the best of us into the deep unknown.
If you do not believe in an eternity, then life is frozen on earth. I may never have known Gia Allemand, but I loved what I knew of her. Her compassion and kindness for all beings great and small spoke volumes of her beautiful soul. I may not have known much about Cory Monteith, but his goodness and decency shone through his humble face. Talia Castellano, a young joyful angel who loved artistry, was another taken by the winds of pain, all too soon. Thelma Todd, a 1930s classic Hollywood starlet, had one of the brightest futures, but an insidious darkness crept in and murdered her shining light. The terrible list flows on, like cruel blood and nightmares. And then there are those whom we knew and loved as our own. A mindless sorrow, an unending grief.
Their lives are written upon their beautiful faces, kind countenances, upright beings, and yet, something goes wrong and we lose them in the most tragic and ugliest of ways. They leave us and love becomes a memory untouchable.
When someone dies before their time, the heartbreak heavily lies in believing they had so much life left to live. So much to do, so much more to give. They could have been all they were made to be, but the evils of this life laid claim upon them, leaving us in an eternal night. Angels on earth, now in heaven, they shall be forever young.
In prayers and faith, we hold onto the better day, the new light. One day all pain shall end, and we will reach the other side of eternity. We shall meet our loved ones again, no longer to be missed forever. God will heal every wound and make all things new. On that glorious day, we shall see that the beauty in dying is living once more, in a world without pain.
“And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying; and there shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.” ~ Revelation 21:4
