“And from Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth. To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen” ~ Revelation 1:5-6.

The love of God is endless, sublime, overwhelming and all-encompassing! All the verses in the Bible cannot begin to capture God’s love for you and I, mere human words will never exemplify the Word in its true reflection. How great is this Almighty Being that blows the very mind He created into flawless pieces the moment it tries to comprehend Him? How significant and vast are the oceans and streams but inconsequential in light of the flowing blood of Christ? Truly the universe is a wavering shadow beneath His eternity, a star fading like a dream.

We touch this earth like we touch God, but we barely understand the beauty of creation. We long after the things that never last, treasures of moth and rust. Heaven is but a vision and we seldom lay bare our imaginations. The things we have been kindly given in life, we glorify, above and beyond the Giver of all things. And yet, the cross remains for us.

The cruel, evil thoughts we harbour and the unholy deeds we give our hearts to, can only be rectified in death forever. We ought receive eternal condemnation, but the Father shall not have us estranged interminably. Rather, the King kneels down before us, and washes our dirty feet. This world once pure and good has become sick, and He knows we cannot heal ourselves. In His unfathomable humility and sorrow, the Son of God paid mercy for sin, taking us into His arms and cradling us forever. He calls us home and yet, we still wander, taking our time and place in this dying world, living like heaven can wait.

The love of God courses through you and I, a life that has its bounds set in eternity. He takes our burdens and tosses them into the farthest sea. He covers us with His blood, a price forever paid. And in one of the greatest of all mysteries, He makes us kings and queens in the presence of His most Holy Father. The Father loves us like His own. Even before we began, He loved us so.

I will never understand the height and depth of God’s love for me. In my finite existence and tiny mind, I only believe in the true faith God has blessed me with. It is finished, the work of God on earth and the perfect gift of salvation. For the love of God will never end.
