The Voyage of the Dawn TreaderThere have been many stories and many dreams of exploring and discovering worlds beyond our worlds. It will always be a startling mystery for those of us who look into the night sky and wonder what secrets lie therein. C.S. Lewis uses the worlds of Narnia as fantastical answers to deep, theological and existential questions. The adventures his characters embark on are curious, intriguing, and highly symbolic. As always, Lewis is the master of imagination and delineating human nature in a most appropriate and relatable way.

What fascinated me about the fifth book of The Chronicles of Narnia, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, was how vivid Lewis’s literary illustrations were, how gripping, how believable and striking. They were like nothing I had ever read as I plunged from the land of shadows and dreams into an endless ocean of light. So enchanting and surreal were all the places he took me…so powerful and beautiful.

I have always loved Lewis’s interpretations of spirituality and Christianity, and I found the way he portrayed Aslan’s country and the end of the world breathtaking. I was completely immersed and transfixed in those moments, as I travelled with the characters into a world constantly dreamed about by the best of us.

There is much truth in fiction and fantasy, believe it or not. Every story contains glimpses into human nature, reflections of what goes on in the human existence. And strange as this may sound for some, magic does exist in our world – in more ways than we can imagine. In more ways than we are willing to believe.
